Behavior Analysis

I have been trained in behavior analysis during the time when I exclusively worked with people with developmental disabilities. One of the key concepts that I took away from that training and work experience was to place an emphasis on positive reinforcement and encouragement, rather than negative reinforcement and punishment. Rather than tearing someone down and thus giving the client the detrimental message that he or she is not good enough, continuous use of positive reinforcement and encouragement promotes a safe environment that fosters learning, self-efficacy, and self-worth in the client.
